HOW TO APPLY

WINTER SEMESTER

Applications are still being accepted for Winter classes which begin November 27th We highly recommend that you complete an admission application now and send supporting documents for an admission decision ASAP.

You may submit through either the Power of Paint Application Page or the POP Art Portal application.

A non-refundable fee of $25 USD will be applied upon submission. Once your application has been completed, you will be granted access to our Customer Portal that will serve as your home base throughout the admissions process. You’ll be able to submit materials, check for updates, make payments, find helpful resources, and more.

Portfolios should include 5–10 recent original works of art, at least 2 of which must be direct observations. 

Regardless of the coursework you choose, we ask for pieces from direct observation, and they should demonstrate an understanding of value and solid composition.

You can upload your portfolio pieces with your application through the Power of Paint Application Page when submitting your application, Customer Portal, or email them to admissions@popartacademy.org with your full name, and date of birth in the subject line. 

Please upload a typed personal statement of 150 – 500 words with your application on Power of Paint Application Page. Your personal statement should tell the admissions team: why you? Answer questions like: Who are you? Why art? Why art school? Why Power of Paint, specifically? In your writing, show us the bold, creative, you. Make a personal statement, literally! Your statement may also be printed and mailed or emailed as a PDF to admissions@popartacademy.org

POP Art Academy does not require letters of recommendation, however, they are a fantastic addition to your application. These should not be from friends and family members, but from art teachers, academic instructors, guidance counselors, employers, volunteer supervisors, etc. Anyone submitting a letter on your behalf can send their letter by mail (4919 Pentridge St. Philadelphia, PA 19143) or send a PDF via email to admissions@popartacademy.org
